Hello! My name is Joe, I teach all genres of electric and acoustic guitar, to students of all ages and levels
Overview
I offer lessons in acoustic and electric guitar styles to adults and children, from complete beginners to advanced and everyone in between.
I offer a free taster lesson so we can see where you’re at with your playing, discuss where you want to get to, and then I can create a bespoke, engaging curriculum to help you get there as quickly as possible.
Lessons are taught form my dedicated studio in Formby.
Lessons are £20 for 30 mins.

Lessons
Lessons are tailored to the needs and aspirations of each student. Often students choose to learn playing their favorite songs, I find this to be a very effective method. It provides a great foundation for students to then go on and explore the guitar and music theory further. Others prefer to take a more traditional approach, with more of a focus on music theory, or taking grades which can be equally effective.
I encourage each student to consider which path is right for them and always enjoy learning new material myself to help students fully explore and develop wherever their interests lie.
Whichever route you decide to go down, all lessons will be supplemented with paper based material to support a thorough practice routine for when you’re at home.

Kid’s Lessons
If you’ve ever tried getting a kid to eat their vegetables or clean their room, you will have realized it can be an uphill struggle to get them to do something that may be good for them, but isn’t fun. This is why my approach to teaching is all about making the lessons fun and engaging right from the first lesson. The end goal for me, is to get kids to leave the lesson eager to go home and practice, as that’s how progress is going to be made.
I am also a big advocate of getting kids to perform in front of an audience at every opportunity. This is something I didn’t do when learning as a kid and I believe this is a great way to improve confidence, not only as a guitarist, but also as a person.
In the near future, I plan to hold mini live concerts in the Formby area to promote live playing opportunities for students, and also allow students to get together and merge their creative minds.
